This peak is the SE barrier to the Francis Lake Basin. It has been unofficially named for Andreas Hinterstoisser, who perished on the Eiger in 1937. The snowfield on the north side looks a little like the White Spider Section of the famous Eiger's north face. Below that, the Hinterstoisser Traverse is named in his honor. This seems like a fitting peak name.
