Indian Hill could be considered the highest ground in southern Florida, rising to a full fifty feet in elevation. However, according to archeologists, this topographic feature was created by people piling up seashells into a large mound over a long period of time. Most peakbaggers and highpointers do not count man-made features as valid peaks, so the highest point in Collier county is generally accepted as being in a large flat contour at 40 feet, well to the north.
