Stone Mountain State Park has two major geologic features of interest, the two batholiths "Stone Mountain" and "Wolf Rock" in the middle of the state park at elevations of 2305 and 2041 respectively; and then the large peaks in the northern section of the park that are part of the mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway above 3400 feet. But in the southern part of the state park, near the Alleghany County and Wilkes County border, is a sub peak reaching down from the Bryants Knob out of the state park and east of US 21. This sub peak borders the camping loops and is the tallest peak in the entire southern and central part of the state park. Its prominence is disrupted by a high saddle shown on the USGS maps as 2,458 found in Oklahoma Road. But the peak the peak rises sharply on all other sides adjacent to the campsites and creates the State Park border. It is surrounded by creeks on three sides.
