This popular State Recreational area is part of the Ocala National Forest and is not bound separately but is more or region within the public lands but is accessed easily by road, or by hiking the Florida State Trail. Binding the state recreational area as being north of CR 445 there are two equivalent highpoints within the rec area near the spring both at elevation 55 plus. Across the street is a mound near a sandpit with a potentially larger and thus higher point but the closed contour is still 55 so using the closed contours on the north side of the road as the Alexander Springs State recreational area highpoint.
