The conspicuous monument on Stoodley Pike dominates the upper Calder Valley and is a landmark for miles around. It rises 120 feet above the moor and is massively build of blocks of native millstone. Originally built to commemorate the Peace of Ghent and the abdication of Napoleon in 1814.
