| This rarely-visited peak is a short bushwhack from the trail (to the left when northbound) and is marked with a jar register placed by Marc Howes in 2007. It is "in the woods" and has no views. The east knob is on a maintained spur trail marked "OUTLOOK" and is a ledge with views to the north and east. The trail as shown on acme.com is not correct (compare with the lower-resolution map in the AMC White Mountain Guidebook) Going northbound, the trail goes just south of the west knob, then jogs to the ESE, passing just to the west of the east knob, then heads north. From the map, it is not clear which of the two knobs is higher -- to make sure you get the highest point on Mt. Wolf, you need to do them both. |
