The nearest taller peak is Bison Peak to the west at 12,431. Along the ridgeline that separates the two peaks has the lowest saddle at EL 11,379 (Key Col)and it occurs as labeled on the USGS map. Note that Mc Curdy Mountain has twin peaks that are 1,600 feet apart but the SW peak is actually the higher one by 4 feet.
