In September, 2008, Jerry Brekhus of Montana noticed that the highest point in Placer County was this nondescript point near the California-Nevada state border, and not Granite Chief, long thought to have this honor. Many peakbaggers thought they had completed all the California county high points, but this change suddenly left them all missing one. Over the next few years, it is likely that they will all try to bag this little knoll to make sure they have finished the list.
Reports from those that have visited this point are that it is not a "liner" or "slope point", and that there is a low bump on the California side of the line that is clearly the high point. |
