Some might not consider these to be two separate ascents for the purposes of doing multiple rounds. Clicking on the "Count a peak only once per day" link in the header will collapse multiple ascents of a peak on a single day into just one ascent for this grid list.
List DescriptionThis list does not include 29 National Wilderness Areas in the southeastern USA that are in swampy or very low lying terrain. These areas are subject to flooding, storm surges, or other events that can modify the flat terrain. Even without those factors, locating and visiting a single highest land point in these wet and thickly vegetated areas is likely not really possible in a truly objective sense.
The Wilderness Areas not represented by high points on this list are:
- All 17 wilderness areas in Florida
- Wolf Island and Blackbeard Island in Georgia
- Swanquarter, Catfish Lake South, Sheep Ridge, Pond Pine, and Pocosin in North Carolina
- Little Wambaw Swamp, Wambaw Creek, Hell Hole Bay, Cape Romain, and Wambaw Swamp in South Carolina
