List DescriptionThis is a well known and popular list for hikers in Japan.
Note that two famous and prominent Japanese volcanoes have their precise summit peaks located on dangerous and loose volcanic rock, and therefore hiking to the very highest point on these mountains is officially forbidden. These peaks are Rishiri-zan, off Hokkaido, and Dai-sen, in Chogoku. On this list, nearby sub-peaks accessible by tourist trails are substituted for these two main peaks, allowing this list to be completed without violating closed areas.
