My native state is Florida – it is a great place to be during the winter months. However, the hot, steamy summers are long. So, for many generations, my family has been vacationing in the cool mountains of Western North Carolina. My Grandmother Ladd was fond of saying "We stay in Florida, but we live in North Carolina." I love being up high in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The featured phrase on a favorite tee shirt says “The World Can’t Weigh You Down When You Are Standing On Top Of It.” In my later adult years, I began travelling west to the Rockies, Sierras and Cascades. Now, I want to reach as many state high points as possible, while I am still able. Maybe I will bump into you one day above the clouds!
