Greg Griffith

1963 - North Carolina / November 5, 2015 - Ashton, ID

Greg Griffith was best known in peakbagging circles as the first person to climb to the highest points of all of the National Parks in the contiguous United States. He completed this list in 2003 at the Great Sand Dunes National Park high point. He subsequently climbed several National Park high points in Alaska as well. New national parks have been added since then, but Greg will always be recognized as a pioneer in "park pointing".

He also climbed to the highest point in all 50 US states.

Greg was a longtime resident of Jackson Hole, WY, where he worked to preserve the local environment, fighting against a gold mine and working with ranchers to remove fences that blocked wildlife migrations. He was tragically killed in a car crash on a icy road near Ashton, Idaho.
