Fellow Emeritus, The Explorers Club. Member, The American Alpine Club, the Adventurers Club of Chicago, the Islamic Near East Section of the American Oriental Society, and the Maria Montez Fan Club International. Four times awarded the Flag of The Explorers Club to carry on expedition. One of the six featured speakers at the 2002 Centennial Celebration of the American Alpine Club. Seven favorite climbs to date: Mt. Rainier in Washington; Orizaba, Popocatepetl, and Ixtaccihuatl in Mexico; and Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and the Monch in Switzerland. Like to bag peaks over 14,000 feet, wherever they may be. Currently working with the American Alpine Club to promote joint Iranian/American "peace climbs", both here and in Iran: the subject of my lecture at the AAC Centennial Celebration. |
