Standing on the carin near the benchmark for Oxford Peak. The register and summit carin are not on the highest point in Oneida County according to research. The south summit is the highest spot on the mountain (2020-09-22). Photo by ALICE SCHENK.

I love adventure and being in the mountains. I live well when I am chasing big goals. I've been a distance runner since high school logging over 53,000 miles, running over 40 marathons (5 at Boston)then running ultras. I mixed it up adding tri-athlons to the equation and then went on to finish 6 Ironman triathlons. Here's the deal. I am afraid of heights so climbing some of the 9 peaks above 12,000 in Idaho was difficult for me and I'd have never made it without friends. I climbed them all a second time thinking I was better....but still those few were scary and difficult. I'm a bit directionally challenged. That said, I'd love to climb all the highpoints in Idaho and on some I I'm going to need help! I love making new friends! So as I bag peaks in your area perhaps you'd like to go with me! Thanks, Alice
