Watching a perfect sunset in August of '09 from our camp at Eagle Lake was an 'aha' moment - I needed more mountain sunsets in my life! Since then I've been busy scurrying up tall things, and 'dragging' my friends along too.
The Oregon Top 100 highest peaks and the U.S. State Highpoints (AK?) are at the top of my 'list goals'. Some other Oregon lists I'm pursuing are the 2000' Prominence, County HPs, Wilderness Area HPs, and Clackamas County 500' Prominence (personal list). When I get the chance to travel, other US lists I have an eye toward are the Ultras, Range 5 HPs (and above), NF HPs, Eastern P2000', and any other peak that looks cool.
Joining Portland Mountain Rescue in late 2016 has shifted my focus away from summits somewhat. Training, skiing, training, technical climbing, and training has forced me to be more opportunistic with peakbagging. I'm even seeing more appeal in 'the hard(er) routes'! Wonders never cease. ;)
