Ascent Trip ReportTook steam train from Beijing (Miyun) to Xinglong for 4 yuan. Hired taxi to take myself and in-laws up to the peak. We negotiated the cost from 500 down to 420 yuan. The entrance fee is 120 yuan pp except for people over 60. I am not sure if the discount only applies to Chinese citizens.
The drive is 30 km on a slow road. It was slightly more than an hour at a cautious pace. The views were spectacular. There will be a high speed train in 2020 that will connect Xinglong to Beijing, reducing the train ride to half an hour. This peak will become very easy for peakbaggers to claim a Chinese Ultra. Very few Westerners in this town. Five minute walk from parking lot to peak. |
