Ascent Trip ReportTHE PEAK NAME IS SPELLED "BIG SCHLOSS."
Climbed in the late morning and early afternoon in typical summer weather, i.e., warm and humid. No threat of rain during our hike. Mill Mountain Trail is easy to follow from Wolf Gap to the top. It's eroded and wide near its beginning, and somewhat so all the way to the Big Schloss summit. It's easy to follow both because it is obvious and because there are frequent orange blazes along the trail from the trailhead all the way to the spur that leads to the rocks at the summit area. Don't miss this turn (a right turn as you are heading north, away from Wolf Gap, well-marked by a sign on our visit) or you will miss the top of Big Schloss. Nice views west, north, and east from the rocks on top.
