Ascent Trip Report#5 for Saranac 6er. Did this after the grueling McKenzie. Had started from Haystack Trailhead. Came down McKenzie and turned at the junction sign. A man descending said turning on Jackrabbit would have been easier (there is no sign). Being exhausted from McKenzie, going up Haystack wasn't easy. Doing it as a single might not have been so tough. Still, it's a rocky, steep trail and I had to scramble at some points. Merle, Alan's cattle dog, needed a little help at spots just to be safe. Some tasty tiny blueberries near the summit. The descent had a lot of uphill, which was just awful after 13 some miles. Cooled our feet in the dam before doing the last 2 miles out. That was a treat. There was no sign for the summit.
