Ascent Trip Report

Ran the last 3 miles up Elbow Canyon on the Jeep Road, then took the hard right, tight drainage/chute to the north at the ~8500' elevation. It walls out but there is a sneak that the sheep use to the left side high. Went to the 10,441 high point and the ridged it over to Sunrise Peak. The small cairn is actually the high point (double peak there). The traverse over to Sunset Peak (10,693) is not trivial. It's fun but involves exposure and some Class 4 down climbing. One could skirt it by dropping 400' to the shale/scree and catching a sheep trail around, but it was a good challenge to stay on the ridge traverse.

After Sunset Peak, came down from the summit into the drainage that might be called "North Fork" of Elbow Canyon. It tied to a jeep trail that came back out right above where I parked the truck. Overall loop was about 12 miles.
