Ascent Trip ReportWent on nature conservancy hike which did not go to summit. In person on hike day, hike leader Doug Munroe said that he would be happy to lead summit hikes but it must be arranged in advance. When I tried to do this a week in advance the steward Kelly Clampitt said it was not possible. I'd suggest not joining a regular scheduled tour as we did, but to contact Doug directly in advance to arrange a summit trip (through Kelly apparently as Doug is not completely on the e-grid). The summit trip would be about 5 hours, the regular tour 4 hours though I had foresters with me and we spent 5 hours with Doug!
Regular tour was $15 per person and VERY worth it as we explored this unique habitat with a very experienced hike leader, Doug knew the place well! The hike went through 11 different habitats a couple phenomenal overlooks, fens, glades, etc. Plant and wildflower lovers would enjoy heartily. The summit tour I think would add a one hour trek to forested summit and back (no views) and then continue the "regular" loop.
