Ascent Trip Reportwe chilled out on this summit for a while. it's easy to see why this is on ogul as opposed to the crappy higher 9390 peak to the west.
after our brushy experience getting up to 9390 we were eager to find a better way down. based on various other reports folks went downhill straight from 9390, or passed it on one of its left shoulders. so far our experience today was that the western faces of the ridges were covered in horrible brush, and i was hesitant to take the chances on the west face of 9390. we would have had to climb to 9200' to get over the south shoulder of 9390 anyhow...
however i spotted what looked like a different elevation tradeoff: head back to the saddle and then down the canyon to the north, and contour back to the old road still on the map. i was sure we'd end up below the trail saddle, so we'd have some elevation to regain, but it looked pretty clear the whole way, based on what i could see from wade summit.
this path worked pretty damn well. it was brush free until we were below 8600'. at that point there was more brush, but none of it was impassable. we found various old logging roads which allowed for easier progress, and eventually did connect with the remnants of the road from the map (there really isn't much left of it).
this descent track would make a reasonable ascent path as well. once you've attained the saddle between wade and 9390 it's easy to bag both peaks.
