Ascent Trip ReportTongue Range traverse with Michael. We saw a couple of deer and a rattle snake. Last time I attempted to do the loop I ran into a momma and two cubs so I turned back. This is one of my favorite hikes as the traverse. Started north with Brown, Huckleberry and Five Mile. This part of the trail is super soft and easily travelled. Brown and Five mile summit signs are easy to miss. Brown is up in the woods on the right and Five Mile is an easily missed herd path to the right and atop a rocky view point. There is also a survey marker. I don’t think there’s a sign for Fifth, just the lean to. Beautiful views and viewing areas of the Lake, Black Mt, Erebus, etc. we also encountered a rattlesnake right on the trail near some blow down. Very exciting!
