Ascent Trip ReportOn Tuesday morning, we awoke to a dusting of new snow, pea soup fog, and snow flurries. Upper Cathedral Lake was hardly visible only 100 feet away from our tent. We were seriously doubting the forecast of "clear" as we packed up camp and made our way to Amphitheater. Instead of taking the bulletproof snow in the access gully (we only had trail runners) we just walked around the West Peak of Amphitheater to the large basin (amphitheater?) on Amphitheater's west side. We found a good trail that took us almost all the way to the summit.
It was cold on top but the weather finally seemed to be improving. From just south of Amphitheater's west peak, we dropped SW until we intersected the Lesamiz trail then took this south to the junction with the Chewuch Trail, where we discussed our options for getting over to Remmel.
