Ascent Trip Report

Big Snagtooth and The Craggies in a Day

We bushwhacked up to Big Snagtooth in about 3 hours Wednesday morning and climbed the rappel route. It's still possible to avoid most of the choss in the basin below Big Snagtooth on snow. I soloed up the summit block in rock shoes trailing a rope. No need for a shoulder stand. After scrambling up Willow's Tooth we got back to the car around 12:45pm, much earlier than anticipated. With all the extra daylight, I decided to go tag the Craggies as well.
I left the Craggies trailhead around 2:15pm, and went up Big Craggy first, then scrambled over to West Craggy. No need for crampons or ice ax, though there is a big stretch of glissadable snow on the descent from West Craggy. I made it back to the car by 8:15pm and back to Seattle that night.
