Ascent Trip ReportIn my book, any day hiking the PCT is a day well spent and today was no exception! The PCT and the Mount Eddy Trail were both snow-free and in excellent condition.
Despite smoke in the distance and local morning fog, we enjoyed stunning views from the top, particularly of Mount Shasta and the Trinity Alps. We drank in many beautiful displays of fragrant wildflowers throughout the hike, especially near Deadfall Creek and adjacent to the wet parts of the trail.
After finding the USGS reference mark near the high point, we spent about half an hour scouring the expansive summit plateau but were unable to locate the actual benchmark. The summit register is located in a black PVC canister at the bottom of a two-foot deep concrete well.
