Ascent Trip ReportThis is a family-friendly nature walk with with about 30 markers.
From Sunrise Highway, there is a clear sign that points to the left to the Wooded Hill trail. Park in the designated area. Display your Pass.
Trail is well marked and easy to follow. It's gentle ascent on a maintained trail that shortly leads to a peak. There are nice views of the Lagunas, the Golf Ball on Stephenson, and the observatories on Mt. Laguna. Also, lots of flowers in bloom. I spent a lot of time trying to photograph flowers.
The Peak is a mild scramble, which I was able to accomplish with the 69-year-old overweight body. No benchmark. Trail circles around and meets itself before returning to the parking lot.
Mission was complicated by the fact that I dropped my cell phone along the way. I completed the initial trail, then retraced my steps without finding the phone. There is no cell service at Wooded Hill so my Phone Finder app was useless. I tried a third time and found the phone a few steps from the trailhead. The phone had shut itself down after the first 21 minutes of inactivity, so I completed the track, completing the same hike three times in one day.
