Ascent Trip ReportDrove up with Michelle, Andy, Orion and Indigo. Plan was to do the Panorama Trail, with me and Andy driving (Murray's car) back up to retrieve their car. We got a late start. When we all got down to the Illilouette Bridge (3:20 pm) I decided to go back up to Glacier Pt and drive down, because I figured it would be pretty late by the time we all got down (at the pace we were going) and didn't want Andy and me to have to do two more hours of driving. Also, my feet were hurting. I said whoever wanted could come with me: 2 miles and ~1300' gain vs 6 miles and ~700' gain. Only Indigo (age 9-5/6) chose to. We started back up at 4:35 at a gentle pace, of course. It was late enough that we were in shade most of the time, mercifully. We were back to GP around 6:30. (This is what I count as my ascent.) We headed back to the Valley at 7:00 pm. Almost no traffic. Beautiful. At 8:00 we got back to camp. I had thought there was a fair chance MA&O would be down. It was almost 11 pm before they arrived, alive and sort of well.
Illilouette Fall was energetic and full.
Every step of the way up and down was beautiful. At GP Indigo and I took photos on the little rock horn where Murray & I took pictures in 1975. The GP Hotel was located there.
