Ascent Trip Report

Hiked in 19 miles from a nice turnout on the road, over and out of Aliso Canyon, then up the road to Santa Cruz Station. Next day, hiked up to the peak and back with lots of just pushing through brush and a little wandering off the old bulldozer track, about 14 miles. Finished on a third day hiking out by the trail and hoping to hit Little Pine Mountain, Alexander Peak, Old Man Mountain, then out the rest of the way on (technically closed) trail. Getting up the last mile of trail was so harsh that I was done with it and just going to take the pounding down the road. Road all the way including wading through 8" of really thin mud I had taken for water at First Crossing, another 19 miles. Total 52 miles, give or take.

All the day's details are here, including getting slimed by ceanothus berries.
