Ascent Trip ReportIf Peel Island is Arthur Ransome's Wildcat Island, the Old Man of Coniston is undoubtedly his Kangchenjunga. Beautiful day with a clear view for miles, wildly and delightfully windy at the top. Note that sheep do NOT care about your nice switchback trail. They will wander forwards instead of turning, leave a thin trail behind, and cause unassuming hikers to take that instead of noticing that the real trail turns. Be mindful and keep an eye out for mine shafts. Swallows and Amazons forever!
