Ascent Trip ReportParked car below the gate at about 40 feet lower than the gate. Hiked up the first mine and then when all the Sherman hikers veered right, I headed left (south) on some old mining 4 wheel drive roads. Started at 6:36 AM and summitted at 7:35 AM. I left the mining roads and bushwhacked up the steep hip avoiding all snow fields since I was not with microspikes and it was icy and slippery in the morning. The route is small talus and easy to hike and connects to the ridge of Horseshoe Mountain. I will come back now and do Horseshoe this route someday. |
