Ascent of Ireteba Peaks on 2010-01-30
|Date:||Saturday, January 30, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5052 ft / 1539 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis is a nice, relatively short, hike that ends in a peak with great views of the Colorado River. It never needs to go beyond class 2, but one can enjoy some class 3 if one heads for the peak before reaching the ridgeline. Based on register entries, the summit is not climbed very often.
The (dirt) approach road is in great condition for quite a while - I took the road heading due east from US 93, and made it to 1050m. I might have made it further if I had gone north on the powerline road, and then east on the next road further north (that one does not go through to US 93).
