Ascent Trip ReportIt was a fantastic climb that truly lived up to it’s 50 Classic name. A lot more ice than I was expecting...about 200m of continual WI2 on 45deg glacial ice. This climb won’t be around much longer though! Seems like late June conditions. The first fifth of the ridge was scrambling on crumbly volcanic rock that was tricky and interesting.
We slept the first night on the Winthrop Glacier, because Curtis Ridge was all booked up. Next night we slept in the summit crater, and it was glorious.
The glissade on the way down Emmons was the funnest part!
