Ascent Trip ReportComing down from Springer Mountain, I headed down the Benton MacKaye trail. When My USGS map and GPS showed I was not following the trail shown on the USGS map I abandoned the trail and started to bushwhack. I should have stayed on trail, as it turns out, the trail has simply been relocated a bit. After a short stint of being torn up by blackberry, I intersected back on the Benton MacKaye trail and was no longer being ripped up. The trail does not take you to the summit, you have to head up another short bushwhack. There is no view. Simply another peakbagger destination. I chose not go back and loop along the Benton MacKaye trail. I simply bushwhacked back to the gravel road and then headed swiftly back to the car parked at the AT parking lot and then set my sights on one more easy peak nearby. |
