Ascent Trip Report

A very nice short hike. Parked at Hoosier Pass. There were rescue trucks everywhere practicing how to rescue people. The Saxton family was with us still adapting to the altitude. Evan is only 5 and was not enjoying the hike uphill so we took turns carrying him. I carried him the the last stretch to the summit. We used the mining road till we got to where you had to bushwhack (open country) to the ridge line. The snow was spotty and slushy. The views on the summit of Lincoln, Quandary, and Bross are excellent from here and Silverheels and the Red Mountain range as well. A very nice hike and worth doing on a sunny day. I will come back and go grab North Star next. Plenty of use trails at least up to this point. The point has over 100 feet of prominence, although it was entered in without a saddle elevation so it will not show up on the 100 foot lists until corrected. I would use 12,100 for the col.
