Ascent Trip ReportA Pleasant ascent of this beautiful peak. I took the Yolo Hikers Trailhead for the "BPT" Berryessa Peak Trail.
The trail is well marked, and for the first 3 miles follows old ranch roads - at this time of year, many ticks but still easy walking. The next 3 miles crosses a fence, and is a traverse along the west side of the ridge, heading south. There are a few ups and downs, and also this piece of the trail has been decorated with a bronze plaque honoring Sir Baden Powell, and there is also a hieroglyphic art nearby. The trail winds through chaparral country of chemise, manzanita, and great rock formations. It is quite exposed from a fire several years ago. This area was spared from the 2017 Napa County fires.
The last part is on a gravel road, and really the most boring part and really a trudge. Great views from the summit.
