Ascent Trip Report This was a private hike with George Christiansen. These peaks are located in Joshua Tree National Park. We followed Rt. 1 of the HPS peak guide. It’s a well duck route and easy to follow. When we reached the saddle between Queen and Queen BM, we turned right (east) and climbed up the short distance to Queen BM. I was surprised to find a register with a number of log books. I have climbed Queen Mtn. nine times and didn’t even know Queen BM existed. In addition to a register, we did find a benchmark.
From Queen BM, we dropped down to the saddle then over to Queen Mtn. where we found a register and a directional BM on the summit.
Next was the challenging peak. We followed the trail down to the first saddle then headed northwest toward White Elephant. We soon picked a duck trail that led us northwest, pass Queen then into a wash that was filled with boulders, brush and a rattlesnake. In hindsight, I think we would have been better off to head west toward White. We did make it around to where White was by a waypoint I had for it. However, the 5200’ contour line was off a cliff. We believe that wrong coordinates were used to enter this on Peakbagger. We did find a rock pile that may have been what was supposed to be White. It was at 5399’ and the waypoint I had for White was 380’ southwest from this rock pile. After a brief rest, we head east to a gully that led down to the trail back to the car.
