Ascent Trip Report

I hiked Sawtooth as a warmup on my way to Lone Pine for a long weekend. I left the Bay at 3:45am, stopped in Bakersfield for breakfast, and started on the PCT from Lamont Meadow just after 10:30am. It was straightforward to follow the ridge from the saddle, and I summited a little before 12:30pm. The summit register contained entries dating back to 1957. On the way down, I followed the creek drainage to the PCT, but I wouldn't recommend it. I cruised down the trail, stopping a couple times to admire the wildflowers and a horned lizard crossing the trail, and I was back at my car before 2:30pm.

Stats: 1h56m up, 28m at summit, 1h31m down, 8.7 miles, 2,600ft gained.
