Ascent Trip Report

From Tiburon, CA, I took the 10:00 AM Ferry on this foggy Tuesday. The ferry is small and very loud (family owned) - TAKE EARPLUGS if you value your hearing.

The trip is about 1.2 miles from near the Corinthian Yacht club in Tiburon across the Racoon Strait to Ayala Cove on Angel Island. The fee is $15 Round Trip, and there is an all day parking lot near the ferry for $5.

The trail is well-signed, and I ascended in a clockwise direction. If you wish to descend rapidly, follow my track through some bushwhacking and a faint use trail that drops down to the perimeter road.

The hike is wonderful, as the fog burned off, marvelous views of The City showed through. A very interesting island and a fun place to go for a civilized camping trip as well.
