Ascent Trip ReportStarted at Woods Trail head above Guadalupe Reservoir. Convinced Emma to join by lying about distance, elevation gain and temperature. I'be been eyeing this peak for a few weeks since getting El Sereno with Colin Gregory. I want the pair of Los Gatos big boys. Woods trail is flat and hard for awhile until the trail banks right and up after crossing Guadalupe Creek. Its up and up from there with minor tree covering sparse instances of shade. Although the the lack of cover presents a challenge, it allows for great views of the South Bay. Poppies and other wild flowers are present throughout the ascent. The peak is just West of the trail intersection of the Woods trail and an access path for a power riser. Slugged a beer JB style to mark the Everest by the Bay peak and headed down immediately. Ran into a wing-flapping vulture that startled me nicely. Dr. Snake was also out and rattled for us after we underhand pitched some gravel at it to coax it off the trail. Put us both on edge until we got back to the flat portion of Woods. Dusty flat foot pounder until we got to the car. |
