Ascent Trip ReportScott's SummitPost description is helpful.
For what it is worth here are my driving notes. YMMV:
0.0 Take Exit 268 (Dugas Rd/Orme Rd) off I-17. Turn East on Dugas Road.
2.4 Pavement ends.
6.7 Continue Straight.
7.2 Bear Left at a Y and cross a stream (Dugas).
7.8 Continue Straight/Bear Left at a Y.
9.7 Bear Right at a Y (Road 68) signed Pine Mountain 9 mi. County maintenance ends.
11.7 Turn Right to stay on Road 68 signed Pine Mountain 7 mi.
12.6 Cross a wash.
17.9 Continue Straight (Double T Ranch on Right).
19.2 Salt Flat Campground
The road gets rough after you leave county maintenance (9.7 mi).
I recommend good tires and high clearance.
From the CG follow the remnants of a road across the creekbed to the south to find the Nelson TH.
I found the trails easy to follow.
I also visited the rock cairn on the northern end of Peak 8200+ and the summit of Peak 6810.
Six or more coatimundis descended trees and crossed Sycamore Creek away from me on my hike out.
