Ascent Trip ReportThe access for Chandler Mountain is at a metal gate located at 32.911270 N 86.62304 W. From here the summit is .44 air miles away. Although the gate was not posted, I did not feel comfortable jumping it because the other side is an open pasture and I would be seen easily for quite a distance. I got the name of the owner, Randy Connel, from a local resident, but no one answered when I tried to call him. I decided to make a dash for the summit anyway. There is a farm road past the gate, but I hiked across the pasture instead in order to get out of view more quickly. In less than a quarter mile I reached a barbed wire fence I had to cross into a forest where I had to start bushwhacking. Fortunately, in just a few hundred feet I reach a road that took me to within 200 feet of the tree covered summit. My one-way hiking distance was .55 mile which I covered in 15 minutes. It took me 18 minutes to return to my car due to the fact I chose a bad place to cross the barbed wire fence again and I had to traverse it until I found a better spot.
