Ascent Trip ReportWe were on our way out of the Lake District and drove through much snow and rain and finally leaving Windermere and hungry we stopped in a town near the area called Witherslack adjacent to the Whitbarrow National Preserve area. We found a nice country tavern pub with a great British lunch overlooking rolling sheep land. Ate some fish and chips and venison and I happened to see a small but decent prominence peak nearby. The rain was slowing down - perhaps one last hike before taking the train back to London.
In order to make sure we did not miss our train I needed to select a trail with the least amount of distance to the summit and I found it off of an unnamed narrow road west of the peak. The trail was very muddy but I made great time getting though the mud and up to the grassy and rocky ledges and the views were far better than expected. I could see the Irish Sea once again! Up and down in 40 minutes was quite good in the wet slippery conditions
