Ascent Trip Report

I rode up with the shuttle bus and walked down. It was April Fool's Day (as well as Easter Sunday), but I think the bus driver was serious when he told us the park service is planning to ban cars from the summit road (they are now allowed on weekdays).

We had a gorgeous view of the Atlanta skyline from Stone Mountain to the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The historical significance of Kennesaw Mountain is not to be underestimated. Make time to watch the film and explore the museum at the visitors center.

If you choose to walk up from the visitors' center, it's 2 miles roundtrip climbing 700 feet. The second half mile is fairly steep but well-built.
