Ascent Trip Report

i followed ken jones' driving directions and hiking track.

the attached track here is the drive in: pretty much any car can make it to the point marked "smoothing iron road"... after that however, ugh. horrible. 4x4, clearance, and all-terrain tires required. i got out a few times to trim some branches, move fallen trees, and a boulder. if you can't make this drive then it would add something like 2.1mi one-way to the hike.

given ken's track it was relatively easy to stay on trail. the least obvious portion of the trail is right at the start, when you need to sidehill down toward the canyon. otherwise you're either following cow trails, or an old grown in trail that is shown at least on openstreetmap ("global topo" map in the PB app). the trail could use some clipping, but otherwise it's pretty serviceable.
