Ascent Trip ReportFrom Highway S2, Kelley and I drove 6.8 miles in on the Carrizo Canyon road all the way to its end, where we camped for the night. The road definately requires a high clearance 4x because the first 4 miles are sandy, and the last 2.8 miles are very rocky. In fact, we pulled a 2x SUV out of the sand on the way in. Our route worked really well, and is class 1 with a little bit of class 2 at the top. The orginal summit register was placed in 1982 by a DPS group, and the current register was placed in 2014.
