Ascent Trip Report

Very dense fog above 2200m. Only a few metres of visibility. Having begun so late in the day, I turned back at the Dome rather than attempting the main summit, given the lack of visibility and the risk of losing daylight. I was only carrying a couple of clothing items and enough food and water for a few hours.

Overall a fantastic hike, though eerie, especially once on the rim of the crater in the blinding fog. Felt very isolated and alone, despite the relative safety of the trek. It was great to get back below the clouds and eventually to see human beings again. I've seen pictures and the views are absolutely stunning on a clear day.
