Ascent Trip Report

Cable Route.
This steep route ascends 2000 vertical in about 1.5 miles, with good footing and dirt steps much of the way. A good workout hike with a pack. You can descend the regular trail to save the knees if needed. If time allows, best to continue up to top of West Tiger. I got to top of WTM3 30 minutes after darkness and was concerned about vandalism or break-in of the car parked at Hi Point trail head. On my way down I met two hikers going up in the dark. The car was fine when I got back. I saw one hiker car pull in to do the hike, and 10 other cars and two other hiker groups at the trail head parking, in the 10 minutes I was there. So, seems like this trail get some business in the dark evening. The Cable Route and regular trail are pretty easy to follow in dark with a decent light.
The best thing about this hike is the steepness and proximity to Seattle area.
