Ascent of Blue Ridge Mountain on 2018-01-30
|Date:||Tuesday, January 30, 2018|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Blue Ridge Mountain|
| Elevation:||3278 ft / 999 m|
Ascent Trip ReportTrailhead has been moved 1/2 mile further up Old Turnpike Rd. to avoid private land, small sign at the trailhead. Room to park 3 cars here. Trail is reasonably blazed in blue, with a few short poorly-marked sections near the top. Cascade is worth the side trip. Bagged the north peak (see separate report), returned to the main peak, and camped on the summit. Scant views at the summit, better at the marked viewpoint. Super blue blood moon, but clouds obscured the eclipse. Boilerplate underfoot and decent cell signals throughout.
