Ascent Trip ReportParked at one of the dirt turnoffs (no fee in this area) off Indian Mountain Trail and hiked down to the Chattahoochee River by means of well marked blue blaze trails and touched water and called it my TH. Then hiked back along a very steep use trail that was a quad burner about 280 feet up the regional NP highpoint and then meandered around the trails and a few off trail bushwhack ravines enjoying the solitude of the winter conditions and views. There is an impressive boardwalk platform off the backside overlooking the river and its rapids below. I don't think this would be a 5/10 for me in summer conditions, but as a winter hike with barea trees making some views, and an easy place to play as a hide-a-way from ATL, why not? I am giving today a 5/10 |
