Ascent Trip ReportTo get to the area in general, we took the powerline road heading southwest from Kelbaker Road, about 24 miles from I-15. The road was not bad, but with some high sand areas, I was happy to have 4WD with good tires. From the northern road through Jackass Canyon, we took the wash/old road corresponding to the road on the Topo map- but it looks like the road now goes up the next major wash west of there. Ugh! That definitely extended our hike!
The hike up the wash was uneventful. Once we hit the ridge, the route gained mercilessly. The footing was usually good, and there were a fair amount of cairns, though sometimes more than enough, and sometimes a bit hard to follow. Overall it was a fun route.
